Pastoral Search Committee: Monthly Update

Dear Trinity Grace,

On Sunday we shared our monthly update on the pastoral search process. Below is a written summary of that announcement.

A Refresher on the Four Phases of the Pastoral Search

Our search process follows four phases:

Phase 1 – Preparation

The committee organizes its work, gathers information, and develops both the church profile and the pastor profile.
(This is the phase we are still in, though nearing completion.)
Phase 2 – Collection

The committee begins receiving and interviewing potential candidates through denominational networks, personal referrals, and consultant assistance.
Phase 3 – Evaluation

The committee carefully reviews, ranks, and prayerfully discerns which candidates best align with our church’s needs, convictions, and direction.
Phase 4 – Selection

The committee presents the final candidate to the congregation for consideration and call.

Church & Pastor Profiles Near Completion

The committee is in the final stages of editing and refining both the Church Profile and the Pastor Profile. These documents are significant for two reasons:

  • They help potential candidates understand who we are—our history, ministries, beliefs, culture, strengths, and hopes.

  • They help the committee evaluate candidates consistently and prayerfully according to the qualities, convictions, and pastoral strengths that best serve Trinity Grace in the coming years.

What These Profiles Are

The Church Profile
A comprehensive summary of our congregation—our story, our theological commitments, our ministries, our demographics, and the unique opportunities and needs within our fellowship.

The Pastor Profile
A clear description of the pastoral character, ministry convictions, shepherding instincts, and leadership qualities the church desires in its next pastor.

These two documents together provide a starting point for candidates to see if they’re interested in the position and form the foundation for how we will assess potential candidates.

Availability of the Profiles
Once finalized and approved, both profiles will be:

  • Made available to the congregation through a PDF via the Friday email

  • Shared with McGowan Global as they assist in identifying potential candidates

Phase Two Is Approaching

As these profiles near completion, the committee is preparing to transition into Phase 2: Collection. This marks a significant milestone, as it begins the season of receiving and interviewing potential candidates. Additional updates will follow as Phase 2 formally begins.

A Continued Call to Prayer

Above all, we want to emphasize the importance of congregational prayer in this season. The committee depends on the Lord’s wisdom, and the spiritual life and unity of the church are essential as we continue forward.

The Phase 1 Prayer Sheet remains available in print on Sundays and in PDF form through our weekly Friday email. We warmly encourage every member and household to continue using it as part of your personal and family devotions.

Please pray:

  • That we would seek the Lord Himself above all else

  • That our church would remain unified in love, humility, and patience

  • That we would be prepared for growth, renewal, and the ministry God has ahead

Closing Encouragement

Thank you for your continued prayers, unity, and patience as we walk through this process together.
We rest in the Lord’s promise:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

The Pastoral Search Committee will continue to provide monthly updates as the search progresses.

Grace and peace in Christ,
The Pastoral Search Committee
